K&K HR Consulting was founded on a simple idea: HR — and the administrative work around it — should feel like a partnership, not a paperwork problem.
We've spent our careers on the inside of HR departments — running payroll for hundreds of employees across dozens of states, managing benefits renewals, untangling HRIS systems, and building the policies that keep growing companies compliant and human at the same time. We started K&K because we saw how many businesses need that same level of expertise but don't need — or can't yet support — a full internal HR department. So we brought our experience to them instead — and along the way, we found ourselves helping with the administrative side of running a business too, not just the HR side. Kara and Kristen have worked side by side for more than a decade, building HR, payroll, and benefits programs for the same organizations before deciding to bring that partnership to businesses of their own.
Kara is a People Operations leader with 12+ years running payroll, benefits, HRIS, and workforce compliance for multi-state organizations. She's led full-cycle payroll and open enrollment, modernized HR systems like ADP Workforce Now, and built the dashboards and audit-ready processes that let leadership make confident decisions. If it touches payroll accuracy, benefits strategy, or an HR system that needs a rethink, it's her sweet spot.
Outside of work, Kara is a lifelong Broome County resident and a devoted dog person — she shares her home with five dogs and spends her free time fostering and volunteering with local rescues. That same care for people (and animals) who need someone in their corner is what she brings to every client.
Kristen is a benefits and HR administration specialist known for accuracy, confidentiality, and making complicated HR processes easy to understand. She's administered benefits for 500+ employees, kept HRIS data clean and reliable, processed payroll, and written the kind of clear, employee-friendly communication that actually gets read.
Kristen has also called Broome County home her entire life and is a dog mom to four. She's passionate about doing right by the people (and pups) around her, and brings that same warmth and attention to detail to every client relationship.
